Pretty much everyone in the US knows how brutal this last winter has been on Minnesota. Unfortunately, MnUps Magazine didn’t escape without problems. MnUps is a small, family-owned business, primarily run by me, Dawnfelice Warneke. During the excitement of the holidays and the release of the Winter issue, our family experienced some of the worst that winter has to offer.
What a severe yet master artist old Winter is…. No longer the canvas and the pigments, but the marble and the chisel.

We had significant problems with our house during the holiday season, then our home flooded twice due to faulty plumbing, resulting in our home as well as our home office being unusable and unlivable. Our family (my husband, me, five children at home and my elderly mother) went from hotel to home to hotel in less than a month, all throughout some of the coldest and most brutal weeks of winter. We ended up having to move our entire family to a new home during February. It was honestly really hard.
There were other family tragedies, and some printing and distribution problems that resulted in, basically, very few Winter 2014 issues distributed in the Twin Cities. We’ve done what we can to ameliorate the situation, and there are print copies available through MagCloud for those die-hard fans of the magazine as well as free digital versions.
Due also to these problems, we skipped our normal Winter release party. We really missed seeing our friends, family and fans to celebrate the Winter issue.
So, in the spirit of Spring, we’re excited to grow through the experience and come out even stronger. We’re putting our best efforts toward the Spring 2014 issue and plan for this issue and this season’s events to be our best YET!
We hope you as readers, advertisers, pin ups and fans will stick with us through our rough patch to arrive even better on the other side.
